There really was a time when this country had a good government. Honest, civic minded people sought positions in government with the honest belief that they could contribute to the creation and maintenance of a society that would be a model for the world to follow. A beacon of workable democracy unlike any that civilized, enlightened society had ever seen before.
220 years later, we find ourselves in the disgraceful position we're in today. Universal, and well-deserved distrust of leadership, shameful scandals highlighting most of the 7 deadly sins, abandonment of society's most vulnerable citizens, amassing of huge wealth in few pockets, a war being waged on deceptions and lies, a greater "War" against an ideology that's used by power-hungry leaders to usurp universal rights of man - the list goes on.
The Mark Foley "scandal" is a requiem for America. The final nail in the coffin of honor, sanctity, justice and freedom.
His acts over the years, and the subsequent protections offered him by people who publicly espouse draconian punishments for people like him, are the last venal act of what truly was a Grand Old Party.
The people who have hijacked that party and its historical mission have done what no terrorist, enemy combatant or foreign army could - they brought down half of the system in this country.
They who lead have done some terrible things, but this act, one of a sick predator preying on children, then being protected by those whose most fundamental mission is to protect us, belies every pious platitude ever uttered by a cross waving politician wrapped in a flag.
To hell with them all.
The Grand Old Party has been perverted for long enough. If anybody is foolish enough to vote to maintain the heirarchy that rules it, your vote is one against yourself, your country and everything good and decent it has ever stood for. It's a vote against every basic principle that our forebears fought and died for. It's a vote against every mother, father and child lucky enough to be born in the greatest country in the world.
They've disgraced us so thoroughly that they should be cast out, along with their lobbyists and their 527s and PACs and all of the other systemic enablers that helped to bring this perversion of good to power.
November 7th is your chance to send a real message to Washington, Albany, and the world.
Press the lever of justice when you enter that voting booth, vote the bums out.
If anybody is foolish enough to vote to maintain the heirarchy that rules it, your vote is one against yourself, your country and everything good and decent it has ever stood for.
B Tween. Great sentence there. We'll see what happens in November.
These hypocrits are a disgrace. How anyone could vote for them again is beyond me.
But get this. My mother-in-law -- who is a smart person. (Maybe) She's lived a long life and I have to assume she's paid attention to things over the years...actually said to my husband a couple of weeks ago...
Well, President Bush is trying the best he can to solve the oil problem in this country.
Um. Ok. I bet she'll vote for all the bums again.
I just don't get it. To be her age and not put 2 and 2 together like that.
Oil men have become bagillionaires on oil, therefore they're really going to try to stop making money on oil?
I don't think so.

let's join our hands together to stop this kind of wrong doings. It may risk lives in the future if we just let them continue.

Obviously we need a real democratic person who understand our problems and find their solution.
