The incumbent Sue Kelly, while I'm sure she's a lovely person is also one of the Bush administrations' great enablers. She's voted Southern on practically every major issue that's come down the pike, and represents the worst the Republican party has to offer. She's earned a place in the Hallowed Halls of Threats to the Republic, and must be ousted.
John Hall is an extremely intelligent, humble, ethical, and motivated man. He has ideas on how to make things better, and he can back them up with stats.
He has legislative experience. He was elected twice to his school board and once to the Ulster County Legislature. He's no neophyte.
While he's not an ex-marine, he's in possession of that dignified outrage that reflects brightly off the likes of Hall, Kucinich, Dean and Hackett. That bright light is the light of leadership, and Hall brings solutions to the table.
The dignity these men bring to the process can also be a liability. Hearken back to Kerry's whispered comments about the Bushies: "These guys are the biggest bunch of crooks". Kerry is a stand-up principled guy who took the high road and a lot of heat for it. In his attempts to keep the process above it, he blew it.
Obviously, his response should have been, well, you ARE a bunch of Thieves and Liars. Let me list the top 50 lies and heists in order of egregiousness.
But in DC, it's a crime to call a spade a spade, and when a race is as critical is this one, the smear campaign will wind up to a thrilling pitch well before the primary.
Sue Kelly has most favored nation status with the Bushies, because of her willing complicity and dutiful loyalty to the party line. This means the RNC will shower her with money and resources. Among those resources will be great detail about Hall's life and loves. They will call him names, they will comb through every utterance he's ever made about every issue. The guy is a rock star - they'll find groupies from the 70s who'll swear he did everything from worship satan to LSD-enhanced orgies in California. (Gotta love california, eh?)
I believe he has the mettle to withstand those attacks. He's a civic minded parent, and past histories are none of the electorate's business, as the President and Vice President made abundantly clear when the small matters of drugs and DWIs were raised about them. If only what happened in Texas had really stayed in Texas.
As it is, Hall will need help. His website puts it plainly: "Politics has become a millionaire's game, and I am not one. It takes an obscene amount of money to mount a Congressional campaign. Please give as generously as you can, and together we can begin to take our country back."
If you live in NY state's 19th district, or even if you don't, I urge you to make a donation to his campaign. Check out his website and give give give. The netroots campaign for Ned Lamont has shown the power of getting the word out, so please spread the word. There is still time to undo the damage.
Don't know what is wrong what is rite but i know that every one has there own point of view and same goes to this one
